…Kwara First Lady Commend Nurses
…Named Ambassador of Nurses
In commemoration of the 2020 International Nurses Day, the first lady of Kwara State Her Excellency Dr (Mrs) Olufolake Abdulrazaq has congratulated nurses on the observance of the day and commend the role they are playing especially during the COVID 19 Pandemic.
The first lady made this commendation in Ilorin today Wednesday 13 May during the presentation of cash donation to the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives in recognition of the critical role the members are playing.
Dr Abdulrazaq also urged the nurses not to relent in their service to humanity adding that their significance can not be jettisoned.
Her Excellency also saluted the heroism of nurses who are in the front lines in the fight against the Novel Corona Virus saying all their efforts are hugely appreciated.
While receiving the donation on behalf of the nurses, the chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and midwives, Kwara State council, comrade Aminu Sheu described the donation as an honour to the members of the Association saying it is the first of its kind.
Comrade Aminu Sheu thanked the first lady for recognizing the role the nurses are playing in the society he added that this gesture of the first lady will further inspire members of the association to continue to be the best in their different work places.
In his own remarks, the Acting Director, Nursing Services, Kwara state ministry of health Mr. Nageri Tunde Abdullahi appreciated the first lady for the donation and urged that the office of the first lady continue to include the association in its programmes and activities.
It would be recalled that the first lady had earlier donated PPEs and disinfectants to general hospitals across the State for the use of health workers. The first lady was later at the event conferred with the title of Ambassador of Nurses.
