NNMJ Applauds CGC Adeniyi At Birthday, Lauds Transformational Customs Leadership
The Network of Nigerian Maritime Journalists (NNMJ) has joined a growing list of stakeholders celebrating the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on his birthday, lauding his leadership as transformative, reform-driven and pivotal to Nigeria’s rising profile in the global customs community.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 19, 2026, and jointly signed by the Chairman of the Network, Elder Dele Aderibigbe, and its Secretary, Mr. Moses Ebosele, the umbrella body of maritime journalists congratulated the Customs helmsman on the milestone, describing it as a fitting moment to reflect on his far-reaching contributions to the Service and the nation.
According to the NNMJ, CGC Adeniyi assumed leadership at a critical period when the Nigeria Customs Service was in dire need of clear direction and institutional stability. The Network noted that his decisive interventions and reform agenda have successfully repositioned the Service from a challenging phase to an enviable status within the World Customs Organization (WCO), where he currently serves as Chairman, significantly enhancing Nigeria’s global image.
The journalists described Adeniyi as a tireless and focused administrator whose leadership has been defined by bold, homegrown reforms, particularly the B’Odógwu indigenous technology initiative.
The platform, the Network observed, has revolutionised customs operations, strengthened transparency, and driven impressive revenue growth, contributing substantially to the Federal Government’s fiscal stability.
The NNMJ further recalled President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent commendation of the Comptroller-General, noting that under Adeniyi’s leadership, the Service has recorded improved community relations, consistently surpassed revenue targets, strengthened trade partnerships with countries and multilateral institutions, and enhanced security across Nigeria’s borders—achievements the President described as evidence of reform-oriented leadership that bolsters national economic resilience.
As CGC Adeniyi marks another year, the Network of Nigerian Maritime Journalists prayed for divine strength, wisdom and good health for him to continue steering the affairs of the Nigeria Customs Service with excellence and vision, in the interest of national development and global trade facilitation.
