With over three decades of distinguished service, CP Akpanudom’s story is one of consistent growth, professional brilliance, and unwavering commitment to national and global security.
Born on August 4, 1967, in Ukana Ikot Ntuen, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Simeon Akpanudom’s journey began with humble roots but extraordinary ambition. His academic foundation was laid at the University of Calabar, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Regional Planning. Driven by a desire to expand his expertise, he further obtained an Advanced Certificate in Industrial Safety and Control from the University of Port Harcourt, and later a Master’s degree in Security and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.
His entry into the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police marked the beginning of a remarkable career defined by excellence. Notably, he emerged as the Best All-Round Cadet ASP of his course, earning the prestigious Inspector General of Police’s Sword of Honour—an early indication of the exceptional officer he would become.
Throughout his career, CP Akpanudom has consistently demonstrated intellectual depth and operational competence. He has attended numerous high-level courses and trainings, both locally and internationally, including the Strategic Leadership Command Course, the Higher Defence Management Course at the National Defence College, and specialized training in intelligence-led operations and conflict management. His exposure to global best practices was further enhanced by his participation in the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, where he earned the UN Medal for his service.
Professionally, his footprint spans key operational, administrative, and strategic roles across Nigeria. From serving as a Divisional Police Officer in multiple divisions in Rivers State to holding leadership roles such as Area Commander in Calabar and Deputy Commissioner of Police in several commands, CP Akpanudom has built a reputation for disciplined leadership and results-driven policing. His current role as Commissioner of Police, Anti-Fraud Section at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon Close, Lagos, places him at the forefront of tackling complex financial crimes in Nigeria.
Beyond his operational achievements, CP Akpanudom is a scholar-practitioner and a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Management, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Society for Peace Studies and Practice. He is also a Fellow of the Defence College and holds an honorary Doctorate degree in Leadership from Leadimpact University, Denver, Colorado, USA.
Despite the demands of his career, he maintains a balanced personal life. He is married to Margaret Simeon Akpanudom and is blessed with children. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading, writing, swimming, brisk walking, and listening to gospel music—activities that reflect his reflective and disciplined personality.
