LOYAMP Reaffirms Unwavering Support for Senator Adeola Yayi, Condemns Resurrection of Settled Indigeneity Issue
-Calls on Ogun People to Support Ogun West’s Governorship Aspiration
ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE – July 5, 2026: The League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP) has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, describing him as a visionary leader with the experience, competence and proven capacity to lead Ogun State to greater heights.
Addressing journalists during a press conference in Ilaro-Yewa on Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Founder, Convener and National President of LOYAMP, Elhadj (Otunba) Abu-Satar Idowu Hamed, said the association remains committed to its long-standing campaign for the emergence of a qualified son of Ogun West as Governor of Ogun State.
According to him, LOYAMP is an association of veteran journalists, publishers, Editors-in-Chief and media professionals who have consistently championed the cause of equity, fairness and justice through responsible journalism and constructive advocacy.
He recalled that, in pursuit of this objective, the association had consulted several eminent leaders across the country, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Ogun State Governor, Senator Gbenga Daniel, among other distinguished personalities, to canvass support for the Ogun West governorship agenda.
The LOYAMP President stated that Senator Adeola’s return to Ogun West after representing Lagos West in the Senate had brought remarkable political transformation and accelerated development across the senatorial district.
He noted that through numerous infrastructural projects, educational interventions and life-changing empowerment programmes, Senator Adeola has positively impacted thousands of residents, including youths, women, artisans, students, senior citizens and other vulnerable groups.
The association expressed concern over what it described as renewed attempts by some individuals to question Senator Adeola’s ancestry, insisting that his status as a bona fide indigene of Ilaro, from the Pahayi family, had long been established and accepted.
LOYAMP described the renewed controversy as unnecessary, politically motivated and a diversion from the critical issues of governance, leadership and development confronting Ogun State.
“The people of Ogun State deserve issue-based campaigns rather than attempts to revive matters that have long been settled. Elections should be about competence, performance, vision and the ability to improve the lives of the people,” Hamed stated.
The association maintained that the true measure of leadership is the ability to deliver tangible dividends of democracy, adding that Senator Adeola’s developmental record across Ogun West remains visible and speaks for itself.
Consequently, LOYAMP called on all sons and daughters of Ogun West, as well as the entire electorate across Ogun State, to support Senator Adeola’s governorship bid.
The association expressed confidence that his emergence would not only provide purposeful leadership for Ogun State but would also mark a historic milestone by producing the first governor from Ogun West in over five decades.
Several stakeholders who spoke separately during the Media Chat commended the Convener/National President and members of the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP) for organising the event to further set the record straight on the person and political profile of Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi).
The speakers unanimously dismissed the allegations being circulated by one Hakeem Adedeji, describing them as false, misleading, and lacking factual basis.
They alleged that the narratives were merely an attempt to attract public attention and should not be taken seriously.
According to them, if Hakeem genuinely hailed from Yewaland and truly had the interest of the region at heart, he would not embark on what they described as a campaign of calumny against a senator who, even before representing Ogun West in the Senate, had consistently attracted infrastructural development and implemented life-changing empowerment programmes across the district and beyond.
They maintained that Yewaland, which has not produced the governor of Ogun State since the state’s creation over five decades ago, should be united in pursuing its collective aspiration rather than engaging in divisive campaigns capable of undermining the region’s political progress.
The stakeholders therefore urged the people of Ogun State not to be distracted by what they described as the “low-level propaganda” and “town crier mentality” of the critic, insisting that the momentum behind Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition for the 2027 election remains strong and unstoppable.
Among the stakeholders and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) present at the Media Chat were Mr. Akinola Akindele (Paramount Magazine and online); Mr. Ayodeji Adeyemi; Mr. Ibrahim Bammeke (Alukoro); Mr. Simeon Fakeye (AtotoNews); Hon. Kayode Salako, Chairman of the party in Yewa South Local Government; Otunba Tunji Idowu; Chief (Mrs.) Omolara Akintade; Alhaji Rafiu Ogundipe (Alagbada); Mr. Sina Akanni of Yewa Frontier FM Radio; Mr. Angel Ajayi of S’Okedile FM radio; Mr. Femi Akintade, alongside several other prominent community leaders and party faithful.
Reaffirming its position, LOYAMP declared that it would continue to mobilise support for Senator Adeola throughout the electoral process and remain committed to the struggle for equity, justice and inclusive governance in Ogun State.
The association also appreciated members of the media for their professionalism and continued support, urging journalists to remain committed to balanced, factual and responsible reporting as the 2027 governorship race gathers momentum.
