Chief Bode Mustapha, the Osi of Egbaland, has stated unequivocally that his support in the 2027 Ogun State governorship race will go only to a candidate with clear vision, proven competence, and a track record of tangible results — qualities he says Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) exemplifies. Speaking during a live interview on Splash FM Abeokuta with broadcaster Ayomide Adetunji (Mr. Quality), the veteran statesman emphasized that Ogun State’s future must not be decided by emotions, ancestry, or political sentiment, but by the capacity to deliver real development.
He made this known during a live interview with Ayomide Adetunji, popularly known as Mr. Quality, on Splash FM, Abeokuta.
Chief Mustapha stressed that competence and proven performance, rather than sentiment or lineage, will determine the candidate he chooses to support.
Speaking on the political climate ahead of the 2027 elections, he acknowledged that two notable aspirants, Ambassador Sharafa Tunji Ishola and former Sports Commissioner, Bukola Olopade (Ozogula), share family and ancestral ties with him through their Abeokuta roots.
He explained that while such family connections could naturally influence political alignment, he would not allow them to dictate his decision.
According to him, “There should be no discrimination on the basis of origin. What matters most is a candidate’s achievements and capacity to deliver.”
Chief Mustapha commended Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, describing his contributions to the development of Ogun State, particularly in Yewaland and other areas, as outstanding.
He noted that Yayi’s track record has set him apart as a leader whose impact is both visible and measurable.
Responding to concerns that Yayi has been championing the Yewa agenda and advocating for the next governor to emerge from Yewaland, Chief Mustapha maintained that equity and justice must guide Ogun State politics.
He stated that Yewa has long deserved the opportunity to produce the next governor, stressing that power rotation is vital for fairness and balanced representation.
The Osi of Egbaland reaffirmed that his support will go to Senator Adeola, whom he praised for his landmark achievements and effective leadership style.
He insisted that Ogun State deserves a governor with competence, vision, and results, adding that only an efficient candidate with visible achievements should be elected as governor.
Chief Bode Mustapha is a prominent Nigerian politician, philanthropist, and widely respected Egba leader, known for his strong influence within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his consistent advocacy for good governance.
He is often vocal on issues of state politics and national development, with particular focus on the future of Ogun State.
As a key figure in Egba affairs, he is regarded as a source of wisdom and strategic guidance, playing an active role in fostering unity and direction within the Egba community.
In recent times, he publicly endorsed Senator Adeola for the 2027 governorship, stressing the importance of Egba unity, competence, and performance-driven leadership in the quest for sustainable development.
