Race for Asiwaju’s Chief of Staff, SGF Intensifies

By momentous news

The President-Elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said in His acceptance speech that He will hit the ground running from day one as His presidency is inaugurated next month.

Shortlisted candidates in the race for the Chief of Staff to President-Elect Bola Tinubu is now down to three revered loyalist; H.M Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, Speaker Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and PCC Secretary Rt. Hon. James Faleke.

Babatunde Fashola who is a Two ⭐ Minister, was once former Chief of Staff to President-Elect Tinubu when he was Governor of Lagos State before succeeding him to become the Governor, is indeed favorite due to His first hand executive tutorage and sterling implementation of His office as a two term Executive Governor, coupled with the outstanding delivery of His ministerial journey in both term of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Femi Gbajabiamila have interacted with all the Constituencies in Nigeria for 16-years before Superintending the House of Representatives in the last 4-year as Speaker of the National Assembly; with His wealth of legislative experience, He is ofcause a favorite; He was even rumoured to have unofficially resumed the duty as He is currently with Asiwaju in France.

James Faleke a three term National Assembly Legislator has also been taunted as a favorite for the position of the Chief of Staff or Secretary to the Government of the Federation. As the Secretary of the PCC, Hon. Faleke is adjudged more deserving and would be able to capture and incorporate the major stakeholders in all the states who were instrumental in the actualization of the #RenewedHope2023 Mandate.

Meanwhile, the question of what happens to the Reps seats of both Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila and Rt. Hon. Faleke who were returned elected for the 6th and 4th term respectively, tilts the pendulum towards Babatunde Fashola who could also be hindered for coming from thesame State as the President-Elect.

However, the sensitivity of the office of the Chief of Staff to the President and to strike a balance of faith and douse the tension generated by the Muslim-Muslim Presidential ticket, vital positions in the villa, particularly the Chief of Staff and SGF had been consorted not to come from the same faith as the President and Vice President; Apart from the President’s Wife who is a Christian, there should be a senior cabinet member of the villa to head the villa’s Chapel.

To squash any hoax of islamization agenda or attempt to vilify the cabinet from inception, Rt. Hon. James Faleke being the link between the President-Elect and the PCC Directorates, the APC National and State EXCOs that assiduously worked towards the Renewed Hope 2023 Project and also a Christian is considered the most suitable and expedient for the job.

Other related developments including zoning of the National Assembly Leadership positions, among other undecided matters await President-Elect Bola Tinubu’s return Ahead of His swearing in as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29.
