The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has approved the selection of Prince Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo, as the new Oba Elect for the ancient town of Otun Ekiti, in Ekiti State.
The above decision was contained in a press release signed and sent to PMParrot by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation in Ekiti State, in Ado Ekiti on Friday signaling the outcome of the State Executive Council Meeting.
According to the press release, the Information Commissioner in Ekiti State, Aare Muyiwa Olomilua said “the Council has approved the appointment of Prince Adekunle Adeagbo of the Adifagbade Ruling House, Ile – Iyaba of Otun Ekiti as the new Oore of Otun Ekiti, following his nomination by the Kingmakers”, he pointed out.
The Kingmakers from Otun Ekiti had a couple of days back officially announced the selection of Prince Adeagbo as the Oba-Elect after taking thorough and appropriate steps and traditional processes before arriving at such decision.
It was reported in the media few days ago that a court case was said to have been instituted by a section of the Otun Ekiti community people against the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi with the intention to stop him from recognizing the Oba Elect by those who are not happy on the emergence of Prince Adeagbo as the Oba Elect.
