EGBE OMO ODUDUWA UNVEILS ADIRE FABRICS FOR AUSTIRA FESTIVAL

The Egbe Omo Oduduwa, Austria in alliance with Abeokuta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture are confident in delivering effective results and culture of the Adire made in Nigeria fabric with series of programs lined up to further promote the long-standing tradition of Adire fabric.

The unveiling of the carnival 2020 fabric at the Conference Hall ofABEOCCIMA in Abeokuta, Ogun state, recently saw top officials ofAbeokuta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, politicians, business class, high society personalities, Nollywood actors are among those who added their presence at the colourful event which later had an award session.

The Group mission is an annual commitment with Abeokuta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture in promoting the development of trade, commerce, investment and cultural relationships between the public and private sectors within and outside Nigeria. Adire fabric is one of the strongest signs of the Yoruba culture and heritage.

The current President of Abeokuta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Mr Akinola Lawson in an interview session conducted by Momentous magazine at the venue disclosed that  ’’I believe that the government has a huge part to play to increase public appreciation and participation to provide employment for young men and women who engage in fabrication and tailoring”.

The Egbe Omo Oduduwa group both home and abroad has mapped out a well-coordinated plan with the intent of driving more top line growth and broaden reach also use the opportunity at the unveiling of the Carnival 2020 Fabric to draw attention for the Adire International Carnival in Vienna, Austria July, 2020.

Speaking to Momentous TV online during the unveiling, Mr Oluyemi Ogundele who is the coordinator of the event and a member of the LOC said ‘’if Austria  with is about 10000 Nigerians resident could market the adire fabrics in such a large scale , a country like Germany and Italy with higher population of Nigerians could do better.  If many other Nigerians Diasporans could do the same that would go a long way to support Nigeria economy’’ he also added ‘’bridging the gap between cultures, tradition must begin at home, still of immense importance is the need to appreciate our heritage by preserving useful age long traditions passed on from generation to generation and that time has come for the world to recognize local content and identity of the unique piece of prints which Adire have to offer”

Also, Abike DABIRI-EREWA the CEO of NIDCOM who could not make it to the event due to other national assignment endorsed the initiative and encourage other Diasporans to emulate the idea.

In a telephone conversation with momentous magazine, the Austria based coordinator of the Adire International Festival, Mr  Ibukun Talabi who is also another executive member of the association and an LOC member described the upcoming event as a world class ‘’ it is going to be a cultural festival to showcases our heritage and we are expecting as usual several countries to be part of it in this year’s edition’ prominent among them is South Africa and Italy’’

President Egbe Omo Oduduwa Austria Mr Lanre Fagbodun was excited about the collaboration between Egbe Omo Oduduwa Austria and ABEOCCIMA. He said ‘’ the event is not about culture and tourism alone, it is also about trade and ecommerce. We are assisting the small and medium scale industries by exporting over 1000 pieces of Adire fabrics to Austria this year’’.
