EKITI 2022: THE QUEST FOR SOUTH AGENDA, DISUNITY AND OTHER LINGERING ISSUES AHEAD OF APC.

Election is a method or process by which a citizen of a country can vote to elect it’s leaders into elective position either at federal, State or local level.

Ekiti State will get another governor after the tenure of the incumbent, Dr. Kayode Fayemi come 2022. While the incumbent governor’s party APC and the opposition party PDP will fight for supremacy to produce the number one citizen of the state.

Ekiti State has witnessed the era of some many governor since it’s creation on 1st October, 1996, starting from the first civilian governor, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, who hails from Iyin-Ekiti, – Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose, from Afao-Ekiti, – Engr. Olusegun Adebayo Oni, Ifaki-Ekiti, – Dr. Kayode Fayemi. While the duo of Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose and Dr. Kayode Fayemi are the greatest beneficiary of the government for serving the state twice.

Since the creation of the state, Ekiti south senatorial district has never produce any governor, unlike Ekiti Central senatorial district and Ekiti North which had produced two governor’s respectively. Ekiti south senatorial district could be seen as watchdogs of the government for not producing a governor since 24years ago, it will be 26years by 2022 if they fail to produce the next governor of the state.

Ekiti South Agenda has been a long time agitation and not because they have not no credible leaders to attain the seat of governor, but because the political calculations and permutations has not been in their favor.

After much insuations from different angle, Ekiti south agenda is now on course ahead of 2022 gubernatorial election. The elders of the zone are clamoring for the realization of the agenda. But is it realizalistic? Without basking around there will be a lot of aspiration interest from the the zone ahead of the coming political dispensation in the state irrespective of political affiliations.

Ekiti South Senatorial district has personality like of Igbara Odo-Ekiti born redefined leader, Barrister Tope Adebayo, Hon. Yemi Adarmodu and Hon. Olufemi Bamisile, member House of Representatives, representing Ekiti South federal constituency 1 and II respectively, while the likes of Dr. Wole Oluyede, Senator Gbenga Aluko, Hon. Makinde Araoye, and the ouster 9th Senate Spokesman Senator Adedayo Ayeyeye may seek interest too. In addition Senator Abiodun Olujimi and immediate past deputy governor, Professor Kolabo Olusola Eleka may contest contest under the platform of PDP.

The feasibility of Ekiti South Agenda ahead of the coming Ekiti 2022 gubernatorial election is still available if the permutation favour the zone.

The sustainability of APC in Ekiti State ahead of the coming political dispensation is still in a doubting state with disunity among some groups in the party. There’s so many groups in the party which are JKF Tokantokan led by the incumbent governor, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, Atunse Ekiti led by Chief Segun Oni, Ekiti Rebirth Organisation (ERO), led by Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Nitori Ojoolawa/BimboEkiti, led by Congressman Bimbo Daramola, PAMM group led by Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, Kayode Ojo group and the like of others.

Aftermath Ekiti 2018 gubernatorial election that produced the incumbent governor Kayode Fayemi, the harmony and unity in the ruling party among the highlighted groups has been in disorder, just because some of these groups wasn’t favored and reckoned with by the current administration led by Dr. John Kayode Fayemi.

Ekiti 2018 was jointly achieved for the emergence of Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti 2022 may be a keenly contested election for the ruling party with the opposition party if the disunity among the highlighted groups lingers on. Efforts must be made to settle the disunity among the worrying groups in APC.

The popular group in Ekiti APC is JKF Tokantokan, some of the members of this group are too funny that they don’t want to know may be other groups exist in the state. Harmony of party should be the concern of the governor and the leadership of he party. The last local government election in the state shows that APC must work on future elections.

Internal crises issues must be settled among worrying groups ahead of the coming gubernatorial election, while the governor must ruin a open free government to promote the interest and good governance in the state at large.

The just inaugurated Chief Bisi Akande’s led reconciliation committee of the APC by the national leadership of the party, must work on disunity in Ekiti APC and provide possible solutions to ensure crises free ahead of future election.
