A heart-wrenching tragedy has shaken the peaceful community of Orile Alagbon, Wasimi in Itori, Ogun State, following the cold-blooded murder of a 62 year old woman, Madam Adeola Funmilayo Oladosu, by a bricklayer identified as Silas.

The gruesome incident occurred on June 20, 2025, around 5:00 p.m., when Silas, fully aware of the vulnerable state of his victim, scaled the fence of her home armed with a knife. Madam Oladosu, who had recently suffered a stroke that left her partially paralyzed, was alone at the time. Despite her medical condition, she remained industrious and continued to sustain herself by selling foodstuffs from her residence.

According to community sources, Silas entered the premises under the guise of offering help. However, this false pretense masked a calculated and intentional act of murder. Once inside, he launched a savage attack on the elderly woman. In a horrifying display of brutality, he overpowered her, severed her fingers, and inflicted deep knife wounds across her body, ultimately leaving her dead in a pool of her own blood.

After the murder, Silas shut the apartment door behind him, locking the victim inside. Moments later, a regular customer arrived to purchase food items. In an appalling act of deception, the suspect calmly attended to the buyer, pretending to be assisting the victim with her business. The customer, unaware of the tragedy that had just unfolded inside, left without suspecting anything.

Seizing the opportunity, Silas fled the premises with several of the deceased’s belongings, including her ATM card, an undisclosed amount of cash, mobile phones, jewelry, foodstuffs, and other personal items.

The suspect, who had been living and working in the Wasimi community as a bricklayer, was initially brought in from Sango Otta by the deceased’s husband, an engineer, for construction work. His familiarity with the household and the trust placed in him by the family made his betrayal all the more chilling.

The Ogun State Police Command under investigation  launched an active manhunt to apprehend him damola. In response, the Baale (traditional leader) of Wasimi, deeply troubled by the heinous act committed within his community, has taken a firm stance. He is working tirelessly and in close collaboration with the police to track down the suspect. The Baale has also mobilized local youths and vigilantes in the search, vowing that the suspect will not go unpunished.

“This is not just a crime against one family; it is a crime against our entire community,” the Baale reportedly said. “We will not rest until justice is served.”

Residents of Wasimi are still reeling from the shock of the incident, as they remember Madam Oladosu as a kind and hardworking woman who, despite her health challenges, remained committed to her livelihood. Her brutal death has left a deep scar in the hearts of many.

As the investigation continues, the call for justice grows louder. The community, the police, and traditional leadership are united in their resolve to ensure that damola faces the full weight of the law for his horrific crime.
