*IHRC Leaders Hail Tinubu, Police, NAPTIP at Int’l Youth Summit*
The Secretary-General of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Corporation/INTERPOL Center USA, Prof. h.c. Rafal Marcin Wasik, and President of IHRC Corporation/INTERPOL Center USA, Ambassador Romanos Aziz Raad, have hailed the leadership of His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for his administration’s efforts towards building a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.
This was made known during the International Youth Summit 2026, organised by the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Corporation /INTERPOL Center USA, Nigeria Mission, in commemoration of International Youth Day, under the theme, “The Stolen Future: Reclaiming the Hope for the Next Generation.”
The IHRC leaders acknowledged and commended the President and the Federal Government of Nigeria, as well as the Nigeria Police Force, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and other stakeholders for their continued efforts in addressing security, trafficking, drug abuse, cybercrime, violence and other challenges affecting young people.
They described the summit as an important platform for strengthening dialogue, cooperation and partnerships around youth protection, human rights, security and sustainable development.
The international IHRC leadership also commended the Nigeria Mission, led by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah, Head of Diplomatic Mission, for its leadership and commitment to advancing the organisation’s humanitarian and human-rights objectives in Nigeria.
They particularly praised the National Coordinator, Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Nigeria, Comrade Elijah Vitus Echendu, for successfully coordinating the summit and bringing together relevant voices from government, security institutions, civil society, youth organisations and other sectors.
Reacting to the commendation, the IHRC Head of Mission in Nigeria, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah, expressed appreciation to the international leadership of the Commission, while reaffirming the Nigeria Mission’s commitment to constructive engagement with the Nigerian Government, security institutions and other stakeholders.
Ambassador Hezekiah stressed that the responsibility of protecting the future of young people requires collective commitment, responsible leadership and sustained institutional cooperation.
“Reclaiming the future does not mean returning to the past. It means building a future worthy of our children.”
He further emphasised the need to pursue accountability without hatred, justice without violence and the defence of human rights without fear, noting that the protection of the next generation must remain a shared responsibility.
As part of continued engagement, the IHRC leaders expressed their anticipation of a forthcoming visit to Nigeria aimed at deepening development partnerships and institutional cooperation with the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
They also pledged the organisation’s continued support to the Nigerian Government and relevant security and law-enforcement agencies in areas consistent with IHRC’s mandate, particularly initiatives promoting human dignity, youth development, peace, security, justice and the protection of fundamental human rights.
The leaders emphasised that international cooperation must translate into practical support for national institutions and communities, with the IHRC Nigeria Mission expected to continue strengthening its engagement with relevant authorities and stakeholders.
As the IHRC leadership aptly stated: “What we do today, we do for generations.”
