Obeisun, DPO, Other Security Agencies Monitor Lockdown Compliance In Ijebu-Jesa

Oriade local government Chairman, Hon. Olubunmi Obeisun today led the team of security agencies to monitor and ensure compliance with the state government’s directives on total lockdown of the state as the world battle to contain the novel Corona Virus.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State announced the total lockdown of the state, including inter and intra state movements in a bid to limit the pandemic from spreading further in the state. Markets had been shut five days earlier leaving only those on food and other essential commodities and services.

Markets and streets in Ijebu-Jesa were deserted as the people comply with the directives to stay at home in order to stay safe. The Chairman expressed satisfaction at the level of compliance noting that keeping every citizen of the local government safe is sacrosanct at this period in time. He therefore appealed to the people to follow all the safety tips by the government.

The Director in charge of Environmental Sanitation at the local government, Mr Rasheed Olosunde noted that the department is doing everything necessary to keep the local government clean. He added that efforts are underway to fumigate the markets and other places of public interests.

On his part, the Divisional Police Officer in Ijebu-Jesa, SP Taiwo Oluwagbemileke affirmed the readiness of his men to ensure total compliance with the directives from the government without having to brutalise any member of the society. He also called on the people to endure this inconvenience as a price to pay to stay alive.

Recall that Osun State has recorded 5 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 among the 139 confirmed cases in Nigeria. The latest three cases are among the 120 persons who returned from Core d’Ivoire last week and were subsequently isolated in Ejigbo.
