OLOFIN CELEBRATES 140 YEARS OF ST. PETERS ANGLICAN CHURCH IN ISHERI OKE, LAGOS

ST. Peter’s Anglican church, Isheri Oke, was established in 1884 by the then Olofin of Isheri Mole for new converts to the religion held its 140th anniversary in grand style. The church located by the riverside was called “The Strangers Church” as it served as the point of worship for travelers passing through the Odo Ogun river and it close proximity to the tolling point for Egba traders.
Ministering to the audience, The Bishop of Lagos West Diocese noted that this was the oldest church in the Diocese apart from Badagry. He prayed for peace and prosperity in our community and dear nation.
In attendance included The reigning Olofin of Isheri Mole Oba (Engr) Sulaiman Adekunle Bamgbade, The Adimula of Awori Kingdoms and Assistant Secretary of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), alongside Oba (Dr.) Olukunmi Akingbola The Olu of Oregun, Oba Shobowale Benson The Olojodu of Ojodu Abiodun, Prince Jamiu Odunsi The Olu Nla of Isheri Oke, also High Chief Jimoh Shobowale Baale of Magodo and Head of Olofin Royal Family, Chief Lasisi Kudoro Baale Kudoro, Retired Group Captain John Ojikutu and a host of other notable personalities.
