According to her, the wives of Commissioners of Police manning commands were invited to Abuja by the wife of the Inspector General of Police which berthed the celebration of Friday.

“We give all the glory to God and God alone with the support of my husband and all his management team.”

Speaking on her plans for members of POWA at the command, the chairperson said, “We have a lot of things on our agenda one of which is health care for women. A lot of women go down because they don’t really take care for their health. So many people are suffering from one thing or the other.

“So, by next year, we are going to bring health experts here that will check on our vitals and give us recommendation and what to do.

“We will also go into empowering members that haven’t gotten anything doing. Gone are those days when women sit at home and not have anything doing.

“The POWA president in the person of Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun wants every woman that is called a police wife to have something doing.

“So, as many people that have nothing doing, we will empower them with any vocation of their choice. By the grace of God, we will be helping some people to further their education, we will do scholarship and all those stuffs. With the support of my husband and our POWA friends, we will achieve that,” she promised.

When asked how he intends to support the group, the Commissioner of Police at the command who doubles as the husband of the chairperson, CP Olanrewaju Ishola promised to support the women in their quest for greatness and also help to empower them in their various areas.

He said he was happy because the inauguration of POWA at the command and the eventual get together was happening during his own time as the helmsman at the command

“So, I am so happy because it is happening in my time and you can see the emotions on the faces of the women which means that have been waiting to have one. That is why I am full of praises for the wife of the Inspector General of Police

“Since the inception of this new administration under the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, POWA has taken a new dimension and the chairperson I’d good in her dealings with women so passionate in making sure that women are empowered. Gone are the days when police wives sit in the barracks and their husbands bring money to them.

“So, she has sent out marching order to the chairpersons that this wing must be coopted and encouraged to join POWA because there is immense benefits.

“On my own as CP, I have told them that I am going to help them, empower them under the armbit of what is available and what is allowed under the law. Soit is a good time for the women, they should not have any iota of doubt about joining POWA.”
