– Strategy best way to go, says rtd IGP Onovo

– As CP reassures enhanced police-community partnership to tackle security challenges

In furtherance of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu NPM, mni commitment to actualize the goals of the renewed and re-jigged Community Policing Strategy, the Enugu State Command has held a sensitization workshop for stakeholders at the Senior Police Officers Mess Enugu.

  1. In his lecture, IGP Ogbonnaya Onovo (Rtd) highlights the importance of the renewed Community Policing Strategy and the roles of the Police, Community Leaders and the citizenry in actualizing the goals of the Strategy. He notes that it is the best way to go, especially in the aftermath of the hijacked and violent End SARS Protests.
  2. Speaking during the workshop, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman FIPCDS, FICMC, FCAI, MNIM, while lauding the IGP and the Federal Government for renewing and rejigging the Strategy, reassures the Command’s commitment to utilize it in enhancing Police-Community partnership in tackling existing and emerging security challenges in the State.
  3. In his address, DCP Fred Ekokotu psc, the Deputy Commissioner Department of Finance and Administration and Chairman State Community Policing Committee (SCPC), highlights the outlay of the Strategy as designed by the Force, while emphasizing the need for Communities to be actively involved in the policing of society.
  4. Similarly, in his vote of thanks, HRH Igwe Emmanuel Ugwu and Co-Chair of SCPC thanks the Force for renewing, re-jigging and reintroducting Community Policing, while tasking all and sundry to tap into the Strategy by partnering and supporting the Police to effectively police our communities.
  5. The Workshop was well attended by stakeholders drawn from the religious, traditional, market, transport, youths and towns’ Unions in the State as well as Area Commands, Divisions and Departments of the Command.
