Oworonshoki, Lagos – March 2, 2025
In a remarkable act of philanthropy, Ambassador Dr. Olusegun Oludayo, founder of DAVE & KIRTI’S CARE FOUNDATION, alongside his foundation partner, Kirti Subhalshu, founder of KKF, officially launched The Legacy Project in Oworonshoki, Lagos. The initiative, which coincided with Dr. Oludayo’s birthday, is a transformative effort aimed at providing free artificial limbs to individuals in need, restoring their ability to walk, work, and live with dignity.

A Birthday Marked by Giving
During an interview session at the event, Kirti Subhalshu commended Dr. Oludayo’s selfless decision to dedicate his birthday to such a noble cause.
“Happy birthday! It is so kind that on your special day, you are launching The Legacy Project to transform lives. May God multiply your grace, power, and resources to fulfill your dreams,” she said.
In response, Dr. Oludayo shared the motivation behind the initiative:
“The Legacy Project is for our community, our state, and our country. We are launching this initiative to support the less privileged—those who struggle to walk due to physical disabilities. We want to give them back their mobility, independence, and dignity so they can work, care for their families, and live fulfilling lives. Someone who can use their hands to earn a living should not be humiliated due to a lack of mobility. That is why we are here today.”
Extending Support to the Aged and Widows
The event saw a large turnout of elderly individuals and widows from various communities, underscoring the foundation’s longstanding commitment to empowering vulnerable groups.
“We have been doing this for years,” Dr. Oludayo explained. Many of these aged individuals, some over 100 years old, cannot afford two square meals a day. Others are physically able but lack stable jobs. To address this, we provide empowerment tools such as grinding machines, hairdressing equipment, and tailoring machines—enabling them to become financially independent. Today, we have over 600 widows in attendance, and many more who could not be accommodated due to space limitations. The overwhelming turnout shows the depth of need in our society.
Funding the Mission: A personal commitment despite the scale of the initiative, Dr. Oludayo revealed that he has been single-handedly funding the project for the past six years, choosing to forgo lavish birthday celebrations in favor of giving back to the community.
“Instead of spending money on a grand party or traveling to a five-star hotel, I use my birthday to uplift the less privileged. People are hungry, and they need support. That is why I dedicate my personal resources to this cause,” he said.
While he has no political ambitions, Dr. Oludayo acknowledged the support he receives from like-minded individuals and organizations, including members of the Rotary Club, who share his humanitarian vision.
Community Collaboration and Government Support
The event also saw the presence of Community Development Association (CDA) leaders, traditional rulers (Obas), and foreign dignitaries, all of whom came to support the cause. When asked about the involvement of the local government, Dr. Oludayo emphasized the role of community-driven efforts.
“The government cannot do everything alone. That is why we, as members of the immediate community, must step up to make a difference.”
His partner, Kirti Subhalshu, added, “Everyone is a politician in some way, but our focus is not politics—it is about setting an example and empowering the less privileged.”
A Day of Celebration and Impact
Following the interview, the event transitioned into a vibrant celebration. The crowd, predominantly dressed in white attire with blue and green headwraps, gathered under a large tent as a birthday song was sung for Dr. Oludayo. The atmosphere was both festive and heartfelt, with food distribution, empowerment tool giveaways, and free medical checkups forming key highlights of the day.
Dr. Oludayo was seen engaging with various groups during photo sessions, reinforcing his close connection with the community.
A Call to Action
As the event concluded, Dr. Oludayo encouraged more individuals and organizations to contribute to social welfare.
“We need more people to do things like this. Together, we can reduce unemployment, alleviate poverty, and create opportunities for those in need,” he said.
The Legacy Project stands as a testament to the power of selfless giving and the profound impact one individual can have on an entire community.
