#VIDEO*NIGERIAN AMERICAN GROUP FOR DEMOCRATIC SUPPORT (NAGDS) BACKS #ENDSARS YOUTH PROTEST
Oyo state chapter of Nigeria-America Support (NAGDS) have joined other organizations around the world in solidarity with the youth on the current protest across the country. Several thousands of youth have flocked the pf major cities in the country in anger over the abuses by the police’s curel killer gang notoriously known as Special Anti-robbery Sqaud (SARS)
Protest erupted into widespread demonstrations last week, forcing the government to scrap the unit. The crowds have continued to grow despite the announcement of a string of reforms from the rattled authorities. The protest movement, known as #endSARS, has attracted international attention, with Nigerian football stars based abroad and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton among those calling on the Buhari-led administration to speak up and stop killing unarmed youth.
Non-governmental organisation, NAGDS, the Oyo state Chairman, Prophet Babatunde, have called for a reform of the country’s security sector, Police Brutality and Corruption while addressing the mammoth crowd at Akobo axis, Ibadan in Oyo state.
Gunfire was heard in Lagos on Wednesday as protesters returned to the streets the day after Amnesty International said there was “credible but disturbing evidence” of people being shot dead by police.
