Shakur and Jasmine would first meet on the set of Different World in 1993, where Tupac made a few appearances. But, this wouldn’t be the last time Jasmine Guy would see or hear about Shakur.

Fast forward to 1994, Tupac was nominated for a NAACP Image Award for his performance in the movie Poetic Justice. That same night, Jasmine Guy would also be up for an award, as she was nominated for her acting in the comedy series A Different World.

Unlike Jasmine, Tupac did not win the award, at the 26th annual NAACP Image Awards, which was held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California.
After the award show while speaking with the press, Jasmine Guy was not questioned about her award. Instead she was asked about Tupac Shakur. This particular reporter asked Jasmine how she felt about Tupac being nominated for an Image award.

Jasmine Guy would answer the question, but the reporter not satisfied with her response continued to irritate the actress with the same question again. Standing up for Shakur, Jasmine Guy told the reporter she had no interest in “disrespecting” Pac.

Pulling from Tupac’s hit singles ‘Keep Ya Head Up’ and ‘Dear Mama’, Jasmine did not understand why the reporter was insisting Tupac was dissing woman.
Jasmine Guy’s loyalty to Tupac would be on full display once again, this time under incredible terrifying circumstances.
In 1994, Tupac Shakur was shot five times at Quad Studios in New York. Apart from being shot, Tupac was also robbed of his jewelry. The incident would spark the well know beef between Pac and Biggie Smalls.

After Tupac was shot, Jasmine was welcomed with open arms at the hospital by the Shakur family, where she remained throughout the time with both Afeni Shakur and Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur.
