Yuletide: FRSC deploys 3,238 personnel, ambulances, tow trucks to Lagos highways
No fewer than 3,238 Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) operatives have been deployed by Lagos State Sector Command to ensure sanity on all the critical corridors during the festive season, the Sector Commander, CC Olusegun Ogungbemide, has said.
CC Ogungbemide, while disclosing this in a telephone call with INFORMATION CARRIER correspondent in Lagos, said the personnel, which includes both the Regular and Special Marshals deployed to the highways to enforce both COVID 19 protocols and traffic laws during the festive period.
According to CC Ogungbemide, the End of the Year special patrol which had commenced since December 15, 2020, aimed at ensuring effective traffic management and enforcement during the Yuletide.
Similarly, he stated that 45 patrol vehicles, three ambulances, two bikes and four tow trucks are also deployed to ensure prompt response should in case of emergency and obstructions. He added that Help Areas and 24 hours situation room have been opened to attend to emergency requests.
The FRSC Chief, noted that the Command will collaborate with National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other security agencies for effective management of the highways and metropolis.
He stressed that maximum cooperation are expected from motoring public through adhering to all traffic rules, respect and obey the operatives and promptly give information on road traffic crashes for necessary attention and prompt removal of obstructions.
CC Ogungbemide noted that the Command is doing all the needful with the construction companies to make the corridor available for free movement during the peak period.
He implored the road users to exercise patience, avoid over-speeding, wrongful overtaking, drunk driving, distractions while driving and observe all COVID-19 protocols to Drive safe and stay safe. All the first Responders are already detailed along the highway corridors to render necessary support, he added.
