A prominent Ekiti stakeholder, Bashorun Olugbenga Fajana, has called on the Federal Government to appoint an additional minister to represent Ekiti State, citing the need for broader grassroots representation and equity among states.

Speaking during a media interview, Fajana acknowledged the contributions of the current Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, describing him as “performing beautifully well” and a proud son of Ekiti land. However, he noted that Alake currently represents both Ekiti and Lagos States, a situation he believes limits adequate representation for Ekiti people.

Fajana argued that other states such as Ondo State and Ogun State have multiple ministers, stressing that Ekiti deserves similar consideration. He urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to respond to what he described as a collective appeal from the people of Ekiti State.

“We need another minister who is closer to the grassroots and can further amplify the voice of Ekiti people at the federal level,” he said.

While making his appeal, Fajana reiterated his support for Alake, emphasizing that his performance in the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development remains commendable.

In a related development, Fajana congratulated Michael Opeyemi Bamidele and Steve Atọba on their recent endorsement to represent Ekiti Central. He described the endorsement as a reflection of their effective leadership and service, adding that “one good turn deserves another.”

Fajana concluded by urging continued unity and progress among Ekiti leaders, expressing optimism for greater political inclusion and development in the state.
