The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to enhance security and safety on roads across Lagos and Ogun States.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Adebayo Babalola, made this known during a courtesy visit by the Zonal Commanding Officer, FRSC Zone 2 Lagos, Assistant Corps Marshal Mathew Olonisaye, at the Division’s headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.

In a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, the GOC emphasized that effective security cannot be achieved by a single agency. He stressed the need for deliberate collaboration among key stakeholders, including the Army, Police, FRSC, Immigration, and other safety agencies.

Babalola noted that the visit aligns with one of the core pillars of the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy—strategic cooperation. According to him, such partnerships highlight the complementary roles of both armed and unarmed security agencies in safeguarding lives, property, and maintaining public order.

He commended FRSC Zone 2 personnel for their dedication and proactive efforts in promoting road safety, assuring them of the Army’s continued support in carrying out their statutory responsibilities.

Earlier, Assistant Corps Marshal Olonisaye said the visit was aimed at strengthening existing ties between the FRSC and the 81 Division, as well as familiarizing himself with officers and troops of the Division. He also expressed appreciation for the longstanding cordial relationship between both institutions.

Olonisaye acknowledged the Army’s consistent support, noting that FRSC personnel have benefited from various training opportunities within the military. He further praised the Division’s troops for their unwavering efforts in ensuring security along major routes.

The engagement underscores the growing synergy between security agencies as they work collectively to improve safety and security across the region.
