Eid-el-Kabir/Children’s Day: Lagos Police Launch Massive Statewide Security Operation
The Lagos State Police Command has intensified security measures across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir and 2026 Children’s Day celebrations, with the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, ordering extensive deployment of personnel to ensure safety and public order.
The large-scale security operation, carried out in compliance with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, will see officers stationed at worship centres, Eid prayer grounds, critical infrastructure, highways, motor parks, recreation centres, entry and exit routes, as well as other strategic and vulnerable locations across Lagos State.
To guarantee smooth and incident-free festivities, the Police Commissioner directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Commanders, Police Mobile Force operatives, Counter Terrorism Units, EOD-CBRN personnel, and Traffic Officers to intensify visibility policing, crowd management, and crime prevention operations across their jurisdictions.
The command also emphasized the need for strengthened security surveillance on major roads, city centres, highways, and linking routes, while ensuring seamless traffic movement during the celebrations. CP Fatai further cautioned police personnel to maintain professionalism, civility, and courtesy while carrying out their responsibilities.
Extending goodwill messages to residents, the Commissioner congratulated Muslim faithful on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and wished them a peaceful, joyous, and crime-free festivity. He also celebrated children across Lagos as the state marks Children’s Day 2026, which coincides with the festive season.
CP Fatai advised children and youths to avoid violence, criminal activities, and other social vices, urging them instead to embrace positive values, vigilance, and a brighter future.
He also appealed to residents to remain security conscious and quickly report suspicious movements, persons, or incidents to the nearest police station. Travelers and motorists were urged to cooperate with officers deployed on highways and strategic locations to ensure a safe, peaceful, and orderly celebration across Lagos State.
