After relocating to the United Kingdom, she built a formidable professional reputation while working in several hospitals across London and the South East of England. Her commitment to excellence, adaptability, and passion for patient-centered care quickly positioned her as a respected figure in the field of radiography.

 

Her career took an exceptional turn in 2003 when she joined the Royal Auxiliary Air Force as a radiography reservist. As part of the RAF medical support structure, she became one of the civilian volunteers providing critical support to British troops during international operations.

 

One of the defining moments of her career came during her deployment to Iraq, where she served in a field hospital for six months during the Iraq conflict.

Reflecting on the experience, Ambassador Sylvia described it as one of the most profound periods of her professional life.

 

“It was such a fantastic experience and the high point of my career was being posted to Iraq for a six-month tour of duty. I worked in a field hospital and gained valuable insight into medical emergencies and trauma. I felt enormously privileged to be working with UK troops and helping to make a true difference.”

 

Her service in Iraq exposed her to high-pressure emergency medicine and trauma care, further strengthening her expertise and compassion as a healthcare professional.

 

Following her time with the RAF, she continued to rise professionally, taking on leadership responsibilities including deputising as General Radiology Manager at University College Hospital London.

 

Over the years, Ambassador Sylvia has specialized in multiple areas including CT scanning, MRI, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, bone densitometry, paediatric imaging, A&E radiography, and theatre services.

 

Her extensive qualifications and international certifications across Nigeria, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East reflect an exceptional commitment to professional growth and global standards in healthcare delivery.
