Police Reform: CP Tijani Appoints Ogunsan for VCRU Civilian Oversight Board

The appointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, DCP Khan Salihu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Olayiwola Fatai.

 

According to the Police Command, the appointment is part of the ongoing reform initiatives championed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at strengthening professionalism, transparency and public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

 

The Command noted that Dr. Ogunsan’s inclusion on the Board is expected to enhance civilian participation, accountability and strategic engagement between the police and residents across Lagos State.

 

Part of the letter read: “Your distinguished contributions to security initiatives and public safety development make you a valuable addition to the Board.”

 

It further stated that his “experience and insight in security will contribute immensely to enhanced oversight, accountability and strategic engagement between the Police and the public.”

 

The Police Command expressed confidence that his participation would strengthen the Board’s mandate and overall impact in promoting effective and responsible policing in the state.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Ogunsan is widely recognised for his longstanding involvement in security advocacy and community policing initiatives in Lagos. He currently serves as a Patron of the Lagos State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and previously chaired the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), where he championed youth engagement, crime prevention and community participation in secu

rity governance.

 

Under his leadership, the LSSTF has continued to provide critical support for security agencies through logistics, operational interventions and strategic partnerships aimed at improving crime-fighting capacity across Lagos State.
