Extortion Along Seme Border Corridor: Security Stakeholders Approve 4 Checkpoints

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command comprising Lagos and Ogun States, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, has held a security meeting with relevant security stakeholders along the Seme Border Corridor at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan Lagos.

The meeting, which involves officers from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the Nigeria Police Force was on the need to curb the proliferation of check-points and restore sanity along the Seme Boarder Corridor for economic growth along that route, according to a statement made.

The Security stakeholders unanimously agreed that a joint taskforce be created; members of which are to be drawn from all security agencies to enforce compliance with the agreed traditional Four (4) checkpoints namely: (I) Seme Point, (II) Gbaji Point, (III) Apa Point and (IV) Agbara Point. These points will be mounted by all security agencies to ensure watertight security along the border ways to foster synergy in fighting crime and give room for economic growth along the axis.
