The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Chief Ayodele Fayose has distanced himself from efforts by some members of his Party, especially, those connected with the ousted governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, to seek a reversal of a judgement entered by the Nigerian Supreme Court.
Fayose, who is one of the founding fathers of the People’s Democratic Party and one of its most vocal promoters, argued, that while, he does not think that the Nigerian judiciary is perfect, he stands vehemently against any efforts from any quarters to bring that revered institution by asking the highest court in the land to reverse its own judgement.
Fayose who spoke at the weekend during Ekiti PDP Stakeholders meeting in Ado-Ekiti, where his preferred candidate for the State chairmanship of the Party, Chief Bisi Kolawole, was endorsed by elders and other major stakeholders of the Party stopped short of calling for the arrest of Chief Emeka Ihedioha, for seeking to ridicule the judiciary.
In a report filed in by Kehinde Adebowale for the Sun Newspapers, Fayose was quoted as saying;
“Above all the judiciary, seen as the hope of common man, must not allow itself to be ridiculed before the whole world. We are relying on them to assist the country. You can see that we have lost every goodwill in our security, in our economy, because every man is doing his own thing.
“I want the judiciary to please not allow the mistake of the past to happen again. I have not said that they (judiciary) have done well, but it will be difficult for it to reverse itself.
If they do this it will become messy. I have not said they have done well, I also have not said that they have done the right thing, but for them to start reversing themselves… my candidate Olusola Eleka would also go back to the Supreme Court for a review. But we are not happy with some of their decisions,” he said.
