NAOSNP Congratulates Egbetokun on Confirmation As Inspector General of Police
The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) has congratulated Nigerian Police helmsman, Kayode Egbetokun, on his confirmation by the Nigerian Polive Council as the substantive Inspector General of Police.
The confirmation is coming on the heels of the super cop’s impressive performances over the past few months he has operated on acting capacity.

It would be recalled that Egbetokun, who was born on September 4, 1964 from the Egbado South Local Government Area of Ogun State, was appointed Acting IGP by President Bola Tinubu, on June 19, 2023. He replaced Baba Usman Alkali.
Egbetokun enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet ASP (Course 16) on March 3, 1990. He would clock 35 years in service by September 2024, according to police rules.
A Mathematician of repute, Egbetokun has served in various positions in the force, obtaining both professional and international exposure.
In 1999, he assumed the role of Chief Security Officer to the then Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu.
Egbetokun also served as the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos, Squadron Commander of Mopol 5 in Benin City, Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Fraud Unit in the FCT Command in Abuja, Chief Superintendent of Police in the Administration at the Lagos State Command Headquarters in Ikeja, Area Commander in Osogbo, Osun State Command, and Area Commander in Gusau, Zamfara State Command at various times.
On September 29, 2020, he was promoted to the position of Commissioner of Police and was assigned to Kwara State.
In September 2022, he became an Assistant Inspector General of Police and was deployed to Zone 7 (Abuja).
Until his appointment as the Acting Inspector General of Police, he was the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), in-charge of Force CID, Abuja.
