Nestlé Nigeria: Empowering a Generation Through Skills and Opportunity
By: Sesan Rufus Awobiye
In a country where youth make up more than 60% of the population, Nestlé Nigeria continues to stand out as one of the most consistent champions of youth empowerment and development. Through strategic investments and long-term programmes, the company is helping thousands of young Nigerians acquire the technical, vocational, and entrepreneurial skills needed to thrive in today’s economy.
Anchored on the global “Nestlé needs YOUth” initiative, the company’s efforts have evolved from classroom-based training to a robust ecosystem of employability, entrepreneurship, and agripreneurship opportunities. The Nestlé Technical Training Centre (TTC) in Agbara remains the flagship of this mission. Established to bridge the technical skills gap, the centre delivers intensive 18-month hands-on training in Mechanical, Electrical, and Automation Engineering, culminating in globally recognized City & Guilds certification. Many graduates have gone on to secure employment within Nestlé and other leading manufacturing firms, while top performers earn international apprenticeships in Switzerland.
Beyond technical training, Nestlé is nurturing digital entrepreneurs through the Nestlé Youth Entrepreneurship Platform (YEP) — a free online learning hub that offers courses, mentoring, and global innovation challenges. The platform enables young Nigerians to access practical business tools, digital skillathons, and global exposure, all from their mobile devices.
Nestlé’s commitment also extends through partnerships such as the Alliance for Youth Nigeria, where it collaborates with government and private-sector stakeholders to deliver vocational bootcamps, startup support, and mentorship across communities.
Over the years, Nestlé Nigeria has reportedly invested over ₦6 billion in youth empowerment programmes and training infrastructure, directly impacting hundreds of thousands of young people across the country. In 2025, the company continues to expand these efforts — recruiting new TTC cohorts, hosting digital entrepreneurship challenges, and sustaining pathways that empower Nigerian youth for self-reliance and sustainable employment.
From classrooms to factory floors, and from digital platforms to rural communities, Nestlé Nigeria’s youth empowerment journey remains a living testament to the company’s belief that nurturing today’s youth means securing a better tomorrow for all.
