The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom psc fdc mspsp MNIM FCAI, received the Force Director of Medical Services, AIG Nkechi Eze, and her team on a working visit to the FCID Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos.

During the visit, the Force Director of Medical Services and her team were taken on an inspection tour of the medical facilities at the FCID Annex. Discussions centred on the improvement of the facilities, as well as the health and welfare of personnel, particularly detectives who require regular medical attention and access to qualified medical professionals to enhance their health, fitness and effectiveness in service delivery.

The AIG, while appreciating the visit and the efforts of the Force Director of Medical Services and her team, emphasised the importance of prioritising the health and well-being of police personnel, noting that “health is wealth.” He stressed that the physical and mental well-being of officers are essential to maintaining efficiency, professionalism and effectiveness in policing.

The AIG further requested appropriate follow-up on the issues raised during the visit, particularly the provision of routine medical checks by qualified doctors and improved access to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) programme for detectives and other personnel at the Annex. He noted that regular medical assessments would facilitate the early detection of health concerns, promote preventive healthcare and ensure that officers remain physically and mentally fit to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

The AIG also expressed his appreciation to AIG Nkechi Eze and her team for the visit and their continued commitment to the health and welfare of police personnel. He commended the Force Medical Services team for their professional engagement and keen interest in strengthening healthcare support at the FCID Annex.

Responding, the Force Director of Medical Services, AIG Nkechi Eze, appreciated the AIG for the warm reception accorded her and her team. She noted that the team had earlier inspected and assessed the medical facilities across the various Formations in Lagos and assured that the requests and needs identified during the visit would receive the necessary attention and be addressed accordingly.

AIG Eze further expressed her commitment to continued synergy with the FCID Annex in strengthening medical services and improving access to quality healthcare for personnel.

In appreciation of the visit and the warm interaction, the AIG presented a plaque of recognition to AIG Nkechi Eze, after which both teams participated in a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.

The FCID Annex remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote the welfare, professional efficiency and overall well-being of its personnel, in line with the vision of a healthier, more effective and people-oriented Nigeria Police Force.
