Makinde Excite Supporters As His Achievements Hits Internet

The number of supporters of the governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde has continued to increase day by day, each time the pictures of his project surfaces on the internet.

Some of his excited supporters are already tiping him for the post of Nigerian President, because of the way he is handling leadership and governance matter in his Oyo State.

Makinde was elected as the governor of Oyo State, during the February 9th, 2019 general elections, after defeating the then ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), with wide margin votes.

Bayo Adelabu of the APC, was the leading contender, who later dragged Makinde to Supreme Court, but was defeated by Makinde again.

Makinde in his about 9 months in the office has been able to perform excellently, beyond the expectations of the people.

His key focus areas has been Education, Agriculture, Security and Infrastructural developments.

One of the unique quality of Makinde is that, he did not resort to blame game as a reason for not making progress, he has been crossing the odds by thinking outside the box.

Immediately he came into the office, one of his moves was that, he increased the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), to about N3 billion from N1.9 billion.

He promised that within four years, he will re-fertilize Oyo economy, so that the state can be making up to N20-30 billion in IGR every months.

Since becoming a governor, he has ordered the engagement of about 10,000 teachers, not only that, he gave school pupils and students free educational kits, to add to this, Makinde has set aside about 23% in his yearly budget for education, this is the highest in any State in the history of South West Nigeria.

He was able to settle all the salary and pensions backlog, owed by the past administrations, and also got the Ladoke Akintola University Students back to classrooms, after a long time strike actions, occasioned by non payment of staff salary and political logger head with Osun State government who co-owned the institution.

To Makinde, the lives and properties of his dear State’s citizens are his first point of call, the rate of crimes and criminalities has drastically reduced since he became a governor, because of the provision of modern security gadgets and equipments, patrol vehicles and many more.

Makinde has also excited his fans looking up to him as role model, when he embarked on electrification of Oyo, which started in Ibadan, the Aeriel view of Ibadan was posted online, and that has formed a major talking point around the country, with majority praising him.

Recently, Makinde was in the US, where he met with potential investors, canvassing them on the potentials for development and wealth creation in his State. This is a bilateral trade that can attract nothing less than $5 billion to Oyo State, which will into turn generate hundreds of thousands of jobs.

As part of what he listed, he spoke about the railway coming from Lagos to Ibadan, which will be completed very soon, and also spoke about the dry port, which will allow traders to clear their goods without having to go through the stress in Lagos and other inland ports.

Makinde has also started what is called circular road, which the starting point can be seen on the Lagos/Ibadan Express way, which cuts across about 22 local governments in the State.

The essence of this circular road, is to place infrastructures that will match the potential of each of the local governments, for speedy developments, which will also give the State a properly planned town outlook.

Makinde, as an engineer is working behind the scene, conceptualizing designs but his opponents, who could not do anything meaningful within 8 years in power, are expecting him to perform magic, and turn Oyo State to Dubai or France overnight, within one year in office.

Oyo State government is one of the States that has signed the N30,000 minimum wage into law, and it is operational. The governor has also promised that, all salary earners will collect their pay as and when due, that the State will properly plan it’s finances, so that they won’t be in financial stress or mess.

One thing that is working for Makinde is the fact that, he has assembled the best hands of aides, from commissioners to special assistants. They are all working hard to support the efforts of the governor, in order to ensure he succeed.

It is a known fact that, Makinde is one of the biggest names in Nigerian politics, especially from the South West Nigeria, he does not talk too much but his performances, has continued to gravitate more lovers, fans and followers to him.

Makinde is simple and easily mingled with people, without clout chasing unlike some other governors. His opponents have been trying fruitlessly to cause him reputational damage but, the more they try, the more Nigerians shouts them down.
