The Orile-Agege General Hospital held its Strategic Retreat Y2026 on Thursday, November 6, 2026, at the Orile-Agege LCDA Hall, Abekoko, Orile-Agege, Lagos.

The retreat, which began at 8:00am, brought together the hospital management, doctors, nurses, heads of departments, other health workers and invited guest medical professionals for a day of reflection, learning and strategic planning.

The theme for this year’s retreat was Clinical Governance as a catalyst for change: positioning OAGH for Quality, Safety and Sustainable Healthcare Excellence.

Staff of the hospital turned out in their official maroon and white uniforms, seated in groups around round tables covered with maroon cloths, with notebooks, retreat materials and bottled water in front of them.

The back of the uniform carried the hospital’s promise in Yoruba and English: A n S’Aajo N’Bi – we dote on you.

The hall was decorated in maroon and white, with the large retreat banner mounted at the front, carrying the Lagos State and OAGH logos, the theme, venue, date and time, and the hospital’s social media handles.

Participants were seen listening attentively, taking notes, discussing in groups, and engaging with facilitators during the sessions.

The Strategic Retreat Y2026 was designed as a break from routine hospital work, a time for staff to step back, review their performance, and plan for the future.

Under the theme of Clinical Governance, discussions focused on three pillars: Quality, Safety and Sustainable Excellence.

Quality means ensuring every patient receives the right care, at the right time, in the right way. Safety means reducing medical errors and improving patient safety in the wards, emergency, theatre and maternity. Sustainable Excellence means making sure improvements are not just for one day, but become part of how OAGH works every day.

For residents of Orile-Agege and neighbouring communities, Agege, Iyana-Ipaja, Oko-Oba, Abekoko and beyond, the retreat signals a renewed commitment by the hospital to put patients first.

General Hospitals are the first point of contact for many Lagosians. The retreat is OAGH’s way of saying that quality care must not be by chance, it must be by design.

As the retreat ended, the message was clear: OAGH is not just treating patients, it is building a system where quality, safety and excellence can be sustained.
