Residents Decry Lack of Impact from Federal Appointees in Ekiti State

In a recent public outcry amplified by local voices and community discussions, citizens expressed disappointment that despite Ekiti producing individuals in key national positions, their influence has not translated into meaningful development back home.
According to residents and , Ekiti is currently represented in several high-profile federal roles, including positions in agencies such as the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), as well as advisory roles to the presidency. However, many argue that these appointments have yielded little or no tangible benefit for the state.
“Ekiti is blessed with so many appointments, but there is no meaningful impact,” one concerned citizen lamented. “If you try to reach these officials, they don’t pick calls, and the people don’t feel their presence.”
Despite the general dissatisfaction, a few leaders were singled out for commendation. Among those praised are Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Honorable Adeniyi Ojuawo, and Honorable Chief Steven Fatọba, who were described as individuals whose efforts have been noticeable and appreciated by constituents.
Conversely, several other officeholders, including some senators and members of the House of Representatives, were criticized for what residents termed “non-performance” and lack of accessibility. Particular mention was made of a political figure from Ikere Ekiti, who was accused of not meeting public expectations.
Observers say the criticism reflects a broader demand for accountability and grassroots connection from political leaders, especially those occupying influential federal positions.
The situation has sparked conversations across media platforms, with many calling on Ekiti representatives to be more responsive, transparent, and committed to delivering developmental projects that directly benefit their communities.
As public pressure mounts, citizens hope this renewed scrutiny will encourage elected officials and appointees to reassess their roles and prioritize impactful governance that truly reflects the needs of Ekiti people.
